Announcing the Winners of 2021 UAiTED Innovation Competition!

2020 and 2021 had been tough years for people around the globe with the pandemic dramatically changing the way we live our life and the way we interact with others. It is also due to this pandemic that we see more and more great innovations appear to cater to the current global situation. Live changes but we need to keep on innovating to find a sustainable solution for all.

Amid the pandemic, the UAiTED organized a virtual innovation competition called the 2021 UAiTED Innovation Competition. Students of the UAiTED member universities from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan formed cross-institution and cross-regional teams to come up with innovative solutions on the themes Healthy Lives, Education, and Ecosystem for Innovation referencing the UN’s SDGs.

The 2021 UAiTED Innovation Competition is designed to fulfill two objectives:

  •  Leverage high-tech innovation to facilitate ideas and solutions for problems related to some categories among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) announced by the United Nations (UN).

  •  Facilitate cross-regional, multicultural, and interdisciplinary global talent development.

In this competition, students will need to identify any potential or existing problems of the selected theme and propose solutions that include any emerging technologies and novel business models to support future commercialization.

32 teams participated in the first round of the competition. After a tough discussion by the reviewers, 6 of those teams make it to the final round of the competition. After one month of final improvement and collaboration with mentors, each finalist team has worked extremely hard to enhance their proposals and prepare their presentations. The final competition kicked off on Saturday, July 31st, and the six finalist teams gathered online to showcase their greatest ideas to all audiences and reviewers, in the hopes of winning the competition awards. The following is the list of finalists:

This competition promised USD 5,000 for the Gold award, USD 3,500 for the Silver award, and USD 2,500 for the Bronze award. Today, we are excited to announce the winners of the 2021 UAiTED Innovation Competition.
