On December 19, 2019, the University Alliance in Talent Education Development (UAiTED), through the joint efforts of the Sayling Wen Cultural & Educational Foundation and the University System of Taiwan (UST), was formed by world-class research universities in selective countries of Asia, including National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman in Malaysia, City University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Hong Kong, and National Central University, National Yang-Ming University, National Chiao Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. UAiTED, chaired by Academician Ovid Tzeng, Chancellor of the UST, aims at cross-border talent development through diversified programs in Education, Industry Internship, Innovation Competition, and Industry-Academia Collaboration with the hope to become the most reputable organization in fostering future talents.
As a new member of the UST, National Chengchi University (NCCU) was offered the privilege to join UAiTED under the consensus of the Governing Board of UAiTED. Chairperson Ovid Tzeng and NCCU President Ming-Cheng Kuo signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2021, signaling a new milestone of UAiTED.
“NCCU is a prestigious Taiwanese university known particularly for the humanities and social sciences. In the context of an international and multicultural environment, it strives to cultivate talent with a more global perspective. NCCU hopes to inject a new vitality into the Alliance by sharing its resources and cultivating talent in both academia and industry. NCCU’s efforts and achievements in the sustainability of the environment, economy, society, and culture are also well aligned with UAiTED’s goal in promoting the United Nations SDGs. NCCU intends to engage in full range of exchange and collaboration activities with the renowned partner universities in the Alliance”, said Professor Herng Su, NCCU’s Vice Chancellor of UST.
Academician Ovid Tzeng welcomes the participation of National Chengchi University, and believes that the influence of UAiTED on industry and academia will be deeper, broader, and further.
